PACQUIAO THE GREATEST OR JUST FOR NOW?

San Francisco, CA- Did you understand the question that I used as a precursor, title? Not meaning to insult the intelligence of the norm, I ask is Manny Pacquiao the greatest, or the greatest of this current era? Promoter Bob Arumhas called the Filipino phenomenon the “greatest fighter he’s ever seen.” And while Arum has an agenda in being he’s Pacquiao’s front man, let’s take a hard look at Pacman and where history might rate him if he were to retire right now.

THE 80′S FIGHTERS RATE BEST IN HISTORY
As I look at the past quarter century alone or so, I think there are a number of fighters that fought in or around the Pacman’s weight classes that he would have to conceivably beat, at least in the minds of the sane. Some of you would pick Manny over a fire breathing dragon. Judging from his recent resume additions, is that enough to rate Pac over Roberto Duran, Alexis Arguello, Ray Leonard, how about we throw in the overrated Salvador Sanchez.

Rstrong>READY FOR SOME HOMEWORK?

If I was polled on the aforementioned names, I’d have to put Duran and Leonard above him. At 135 lbs, but especially at 147, the mighty Pacman would be iin too deep with Duran. Leonard would too big and fast, especially in foot movement. If you look at the tapes, you can see Alexis unloading that right hand on the smaller foe. In closing, it would be unjust to call Manny Pacquiao the greatest fighter ever.

A GREATER FIGHTER GETS BETTER AT 30

What he is currently is the best fighter in all of boxing. And should he get past Floyd Mayweather in “wrecking ball” March 13, then Manny Pacquiao will have earned the honor sans any questions
